TD to be taken to court by Iranian-Canadian

9926745-1024x669[1]An Iranian-Canadian man from Montreal is taking TD Bank Group to court over the closure of his business accounts and mortgage, according to a report on iPolitics.ca.

According to the report, Hossein Pourshafiey is taking legal action “after the bank refused services to him in October for allegedly violating Canadian sanctions against Iran.”

Hossein Pourshafiey and his Montreal-based money transfer business Moneywise Financial, filed the case against TD Bank Group last December.

“In the motion, the plaintiffs asked the court for a permanent injunction to reopen the two business accounts for Moneywise Financial and to reinstate Pourshafiey’s home equity line of credit,” the report said.

Pourshafiey’s lawyer, Shahrooz Mahmoudian, told iPolitics that his client was complying fully with the Regulations in Canada.
