Members of the Iranian-Canadian community picketed outside of a Conservative Party function at the Sheraton Parkway North Hotel in Richmond Hill last Thursday, according to yorkregion.com. The protesters, with placards in hand, spoke to Mr. Kenney outside of the Sheraton Hotel and communicated their concern with the recent closure of the visa office in Tehran.
“Mr. Kenney was taking part in a Conservative party dinner with Richmond Hill MP Costas Menagakis while members of the Iranian community quietly demonstrated outside, waving flags and placards reading ‘Closure of the visa section is hurting 120,000 Iranian-Canadians’ and ‘Punish the government, not the people of Iran,’ according to the report. The report also indicated that Mr. Kenney will be planning a town hall meeting in Richmond Hill to address Canada’s visa office closure in Tehran sometime in the coming months.
