This year’s Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival features an Iranian film which will be part of the new Rise Against program. The program “presents stories of activism, defiance and heroism in the face of cultural, political and ideological adversity.” The World Premiere of director Loghman Khaledi’s Nessa is the only screening of an Iranian production at North America’s largest documentary film festival. The film revolves around a young Kurdish woman who dreams of becoming a famous actress amid an oppressive atmosphere. Showtimes for Nessa are May 3 at 9:30 p.m. and May 4 at 9:45 p.m. at Innis Town Hall. For more information, visit www.hotdocs.ca.
